If you have a particular skill or project in mind for yourself or a group, or if your club or group would like to hold a fundraiser to benefit our programs, please contact us! We will do our best to match your skills and talents with a program so that the experience is beneficial to you and to Adelante.

Adelante uses volunteers in our offices and in programs throughout the agency. Volunteer opportunities are available through our Friends in Time program, the Arts & Animals program, and through many others. A sample list of ways people volunteer at Adelante is below, but we can customize a job for you to match your skills and schedule. To get the process started, complete a volunteer application and send it to the agency (contact information below) so we can figure out how to best put your talents to work. Volunteer positions are unpaid services to the agency. If you are interested in a paid position at Adelante, our job descriptions are also posted on our website.

Art Projects

Decorating bulletin boards in residences, teaching art in various media to program participants

Bargain Square

Come to our thrift store and help with sorting and pricing donated items or help customers find what they need in the store. We have two locations of Bargain Square, one in Los Lunas and the original location in Belen.

Clerical Support in Offices, Day Programs, or Residences

There is a wide range of needs, applicable to many skill and interest areas.

Daytime Outings

Our staff members take clients on outings every day to educational and community activities. Extra people would make the experiences even more enriching for our program participants.

Desert Harvest Food Rescue

Support Adelante's Desert Harvest Food Rescue program in its mission to reduce hunger and food waste in Albuquerque and Valencia County. Volunteers picking up excess food from area restaurants and food service sites and deliver it to local social service agencies that have food programs. Friends in Time

This program provides support services for people with multiple sclerosis (MS) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease). As a volunteer, you can serve as a one-on-one volunteer to a particular person or work in groups to adapt homes for better accessibility and independent living. If interested in volunteering for Friends in Time contact the program manager directly.

Internships

Spend time getting on-the-job experience while volunteering at Adelante. We can place you in an area that will broaden your skills and satisfy educational requirements.

Landscaping/Gardening

Many of our residences would benefit from loving attention given to their gardens and yards. Clients would assist and learn in the experience.

Music

Performing in any of our various residences or day programs, or teaching and coaching clients in who are interested in learning a musical instrument

Reading to Program Participants

Many of Adelante clients with visual impairments and developmental delays would take great joy in being read to at our residential houses or day programs.
