Too many people find their golden years to be anything but golden. Instead, they experience boredom, loneliness, and isolation. Adelante believes seniors can live life to the fullest and remain a part of the community. The agency provides services designed to allow seniors the opportunity to get out of their homes, meet new people, have new and enjoyable experiences, and learn new skills. Medication assistance and some nursing services are available. Adelante began as a nonprofit agency in 1978 providing services for people with disabilities. In 2003, we began to use our experience in regard to independence, mobility, inclusion, and helping people to live the fullest life possible, to benefit seniors in our community. The agency is licensed by the State of New Mexico for all or our services. Adelante offers a comprehensive Seniors Program at a centrally located facility in Albuquerque. Services are provided for people 55 years of age or older, from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. Adelante’s Senior Services are individualized to meet the needs and goals of each person participating in the program. An overall goal of the program is to help seniors enhance or maintain their daily life skills and as much independence as possible. We assist with personal care and we provide a variety of programming options to the people we support. Each senior participates in the activities of their choice. Some we offer include:
A monthly calendar is provided, from which seniors select activities. Adelante’s Seniors Program also offers meals and snacks for people participating in our program. Special diets – heart healthy, diabetic, and pureed – are accommodated, as needed.
