Adelante
is a Spanish word for forward and it describes our philosophy. For many
years people with disabilities did not have the opportunity to make choices
in their lives--where to work, where to live, or with whom to socialize.
Adelante says move forward, set goals, and we will help you achieve them.

Facts
- Adelante
has provided services to New Mexicans with disabilities since 1978 and
continues to work as a non-profit agency.
- We
support nearly 700 people with disabilities in Bernalillo, Sandoval,
and Valencia Counties.
-
Our staff consists of over 920 people who support and advocate for our
participants. Over 350 of our employees are people with disabilities.
- We
provide ongoing, intensive training programs that go above and beyond
state requirements. Adelante Training Institute conducts training for
our staff, employees of similar agencies statewide, self-advocates,
parents, and individuals who work directly in support of people with
severe disabilities.
- Adelante
has also pursued quality standards which are more widely recognized
in the business world. The agency received the Quality New Mexico Pinon
Award for our commitment to using total quality concepts and principles.
In 2002, the Adelante administration, day habilitation, and residential
services were assessed by NSF-International Strategic Registrations
and found to be in compliance with the standards of ISO 9001:2000. In
2003 Adelante Facilities Support Services followed suit and in 2004
Adelante Document Destruction Services achieved ISO. ISO is a series
of quality management standards developed by the International Standards
Organization. Very few companies in the social service industry have
achieved this feat. To learn more about our quality programs visit the
quality page.
- Adelante’s
operating budget comes from Medicaid, state and federal grants, affirmative
business revenues, and private contributions. Our website offers secure
online donations, if you would like to
contribute.
