Adelante feels it is important to help people set goals and follow their own career paths. To do so, they must know what types of careers are available. Each person is afforded an opportunity to measure their interest in various occupations, to help them select future employment. In some cases, when they first enlist the services of Adelante, people need to learn about the community before they can knowledgeably select a job. This situation is usually attributable to years in an institution or at home, rather than the type or severity of their disability, for example. For others people, they may already have some job experience, but are having difficulty finding or maintaining employment. Adelante can help.
A variety of employment opportunities are available in those businesses including mailing, packaging, shredding, document imaging, janitorial, and retail work. Each Enterprise is located in the community, but Adelante operates them and provides the vocational training and support people need to succeed in their jobs. Proceeds from the businesses pay the salaries of the people who work at Adelante's affirmative Enterprises. In addition, Adelante's Employment Services program works as an employment agency for people with disabilities, including disabled veterans. This program is specifically for people looking for work in the community, outside the business models Adelante Enterprises provides. For more information, click on the links to the left. |
