Many people, when they first enlist the services of Adelante, need to learn about the community before they can knowledgeably select a job. This situation is usually attributable to years in an institution or at home, rather than the type or severity of their disability. Adelante feels it is important to help people set goals and follow their own career paths. To do so, they must know what types of careers are available. Each person is afforded an opportunity to measure their interest in various occupations, to help them select future employment.

Adelante operates several affirmative businesses under our Adelante Enterprises division that provide services for local businesses while providing employment for over 300 people with disabilities. A variety of employment opportunities are available in those businesses. Each Enterprise is located in the community, but Adelante operates them and provides the vocational training and support people need to succeed in their jobs. Proceeds from the businesses pay the salaries of the people who work there and provide income to the agency.

In addition, Adelante's Employment Services program works as an employment agency for people with disabilities. This program is specifically for people looking for work in the community, outside the business models Adelante Enterprises provides.
