Vans are available in all areas of Adelante so people can go on educational and social outings that promote community membership.

People visit museums and parks in addition to participating in civic events and other community activities. They also visit job sites around town to see the variety of jobs available and to learn what all kinds of people do in the community. The kinds and frequency of outings depend on the interests of the people participating in each program.

In addition to educational and social outings, many people participate in volunteer activities through Adelante. One of the agency's guiding visions is to help people with disabilities demonstrate competence and ability by giving back to the community. Through our programs Adelante volunteers work on projects like Therapy with Pets, Meals on Wheels, or Desert Harvest Food Rescue. People also volunteer for other nonprofits like Habitat for Humanity and at local senior centers. These activities allow people to experience the rewards and responsibilities of doing community service.

At Adelante, we believe it is important for each person to know how they fit into the community and to have others see them in valued roles. This is just one way the agency helps people find such roles.
